Coinbase’s cbBTC is expanding to Robinhood Chain through Chainlink CCIP. The move gives a new L2 focused on tokenized equities and DeFi access to a Bitcoin-backed asset with more than $7.5 billion in circulation, according to Chainlink.

The interesting part is the combination. Robinhood Chain is trying to connect traditional assets with onchain finance, but a market built around stocks also needs a deep crypto-native collateral asset. Bitcoin can fill that role in lending markets, liquidity pools and derivatives.

Using CCIP as the cross-chain infrastructure also matters. Instead of creating another isolated wrapped representation for the chain, the integration uses an established interoperability layer to move cbBTC between supported networks. That reduces one source of liquidity fragmentation, although it does not remove smart contract, oracle or bridge risks.

The expansion was announced by Chainlink in its ecosystem coverage. Chainlink also documents its broader support for Robinhood Chain through its developer changelog.

For users and builders, the next question is practical: how quickly will cbBTC liquidity appear across Robinhood Chain lending and DEX markets?

If liquidity arrives, cbBTC could become one of the assets connecting Robinhood Chain’s RWA side with its crypto-native DeFi side.
